- The competition is open to citizens of India (including Non Resident Indians) only.
- Employees of Infomedia18 Ltd, all sponsors and partners do not qualify for the competition.
- There is no entry fee associated with the Better Photography Wedding Photographer of the Year 2011 Awards.
- Entrants are allowed to participate in multiple themes with a maximum of four entries per theme. For the photo essay participants can send up to two series of images-each containing a minimum of six and maximum of 12 images.
- Entries in the form of prints should be not be mounted and without borders. There must be no watermarks, copyright marks or identifying marks on the face of the print. Prints should not be smaller than 8 x 10 inches or bigger than 9 x 12 inches. For panoramic entries, the shorter side must measure 8 inches.
- Entries must be printed on Kodak paper.
- The category and theme name should be clearly mentioned on the envelope and participation form.
- Entries for multiple themes need to be sent in separate envelopes.
- A photocopy of the participation form with all details filled in must be pasted behind the print.
- Entrants will need to log on to www.betterphotography.in/wpoy and register by filling up details.
- Entries in the form of digital image files should be JPEG files.
- The digital files should have a minimum resolution of 2000 pixels on the shorter side. The file size should not exceed 5MB.
- All entries must be submitted latest by 20 Feb 2012
- The entrant must be the sole creator of his / her photographs and must also own the copyrights and rights to reproduction of all pictures entered into the contest. It is the legal responsibility of the entrant, and not Infomedia18 Ltd, to ensure that publication of the photographs by Better Photography raises any legal claims.
- Better Photography will appoint a judging panel to determine the winning images and honourable mentions in each category, based on a final shortlist.
- The decision of the judges will be final. Better Photography and Infomedia18 Ltd will not enter into any correspondence regarding the judging or organisation of the competition.
- Every entrant will retain copyrights of his/her image.
- By entering your images into the competition, entrants agree to a worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable usage licence for the images that allows Better Photography the rights to publish or display their photographs, in print or electronic form, in any issue of Better Photography or within any editorial space owned by Better Photography, for editorial, educational and promotional purposes, without payment, for a period of three years from the date of declaration of results.
- The images will be reproduced with due credit to the photographers.
- Theme winners who will participate in the final face-off round of Better Photography Wedding Photographer of the Year 2011 Awards will need to submit all photographs shot during the face-off to Better Photography.
- Winners also grant Infomedia18 Ltd, Better Photography and official partners, sponsors and associates of BP WPOY 2011 Awards a worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable usage licence for the images shot during the face-off round, for a period of three years, without payment, from the date of declaration of results. This includes the rights to reproduce any of the images shot during the face-off for any purpose, in any form, including promotions for official partners, sponsors or associates of BP WPOY 2011 Awards and their affiliate brands.
- Entries will be judged on the basis of interpreting and expressing the theme, along with the technical and aesthetic quality of the photograph.
- Award nominees will be announced in the April 2012 issue of Better Photography. Final winners will be showcased in the March 2012 issue.
- Entrants may be contacted for a high-resolution JPEG or RAW file of their image and other details such as proof of age, for potential shortlisting purposes during the competition. Failure to produce such details or a high-resolution file within five days will eliminate an entrant from the shortlisting process.
- The 6 first-prize winners of each theme will be joined by a seventh entrant, who has won the special award for Best Female Photographer to compete for the title of Wedding Photographer of the Year 2011 through a face-off contest.
