At least 10 per cent of the frame should be occupied by the subject in order for it to qualify as wildlife portraiture.
Insects and invertebrates, and plants, fungi and other floral subjects are beyond the scope of this contest and may not be entered.
Abstract portraiture is allowed so long as the subject is broadly identifiable and belongs to one of the allowed classes (mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians). Only free-ranging (“wild”) animals photographed in their natural habitat or human-modified landscapes may be entered.
Captive animals and pets are not allowed. If an animal has been handled or restrained for the photograph in the wild, it must be explicitly stated.
Photographs taken with live bait are not allowed. Any mealworms and dead bait used must be explicitly disclosed.
Photographs will be judged on aesthetics, creativity, technical soundness, emotional appeal and natural history significance.
The vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash or any other product or service.
The vouchers are not transferable.
The vouchers have to be used before 30 June 2017, for Tours scheduled to start no later than 31 December 2017.
The range of Tours against which the vouchers can be redeemed is restricted to those published on our website, at www.toehold.in/phototours and open for bookings.
The vouchers can be used for partial value multiple times or for the full value a single time.
Admission into a Photo Tour is subject to availability of seats on the Tour. The winner must inform us of their intent to redeem a voucher when the Tour is still open.
In the event that participation in a Photo Tour is cancelled by the winner after confirmation, the cancellation policy in effect for that Tour will apply.
The inclusions and exclusions on a Photo Tour will be governed by those in effect for the Tour, and will generally NOT include travel costs (airfare and land transfers), services additional to the Tour itinerary, and expenses of a personal nature.
General Rules (Summary):
1. You can submit multiple photos in any contest. However, photos need to be uploaded only one at a time.
2. Photos submitted must be at least 640 pixels on the shorter side, and no more than 2000 pixels on the longer side. Images should be no larger than 2MB. Photos must be in JPEG format The file size should not exceed 2 MB.
4. For each photo, specifying a caption is mandatory.
5. Once uploaded, photos/details can be deleted, altered, or changed only before the contest closing date.
6. Uploaded photos will be displayed on the site only after moderation.
7. A photograph that has won the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd prize in a Better Photography contest cannot be entered again in another Better Photography contest for 6 months after winning.
