What is Intent?

Is it necessary for a photographer to have a significant intent while making an image?

Intent is all, it’s everything, it’s a question of means and ends. If you have poor intention, then it does nothing for you as a person. I don’t care if you make photos, write, dance, paint or whatever, if you have poor intentions, it will eventually catch up with you. I am not necessarily talking about fame/fortune and those materially measurable components. It’s the entire internal barometer. In the bad old days, it was called ‘conscience’. I don’t hear that word anymore, but that is largely because we have assumed it’s unimportant. But you cannot wish it away. The hardest choices for me, as an adult, are not between good and evil, but between good, better, and best.
