Susan Sontag was an American writer and filmmaker, professor, literary icon, and political activist. In 1964, she gained recognition for her essay, Notes on Camp, and eventually published several novels like The Volcano Lover and In America. She is also widely known for her essays—On Photography and Illness as Metaphor. Susan also actively spoke, wrote about and even travelled to conflict areas, one of them being Vietnam.
