Blog of the Week: Reuters Photographers Blog
Great Stories Translated to Pictures
Sometimes, a photographer’s skill and experience are secondary even when it comes to classifying great pictures. Sometimes, only the story matters. The Reuters Photographers Blog is a concentration of such stories, conveyed straight from the hearts of some of the best photojournalists today.
When this blog first started out, its aim was to invite readers to encourage great photographs and exchange ideas. Today, it has evolved into a showcase of pictures that best represent the world’s biting issues. The contributors tell their stories with honesty and humility—qualities that are essential yet extremely challenging to develop as successful photojournalists. Even though most of the images featured here speak for themselves, it is inspiring to read each of the first-hand accounts. The most recent post was put in by Jorge Silva who covered the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Haiti. He explains how difficult it was to translate the tragic scenes before him into imagery for the rest of world. This blog is a perfect resource for those looking to pursue photojournalism as a full-time career.
