Phase One Launches Capture One Pro 8 Software With New Subscription Option


Phase One released Version 8 of its Capture One Pro at photokina and the imaging software features updates a host of new tools designed to better process and edit Raw files. Phase One also offers a new subscription plan available for Capture One Pro 8 at USD 10/month (approx Rs 600), although you can still buy the software outright at USD 299 (approx Rs 18,000). Phase One also announced that a free version of Capture One Express will be available for select Sony cameras.

One of the new features in Capture One Pro 8 features the Film Grain tool. According to Phase One, the tool is based on an interaction between light and silver halide to emulate the effects from analogue film. The software also adds Clone and Heal repair layers, which allow users to remove unwanted objects from photographs without reducing the image quality. The Local Adjustment tool gives users the ability to localize white balance tweaks. New migration tools make it easier for users to transition to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Apple Aperture.

Other new and improves features includes improved black-and-white conversion, noise reduction, lens correction, a skin tone enhancer, metadata editing and much more. Capture One Pro 8 is available for the Mac and Windows operating systems online at
