With barely a day to go till photokina begins in full swing, Olympus announced its weather resistant lens—the M.ZUIKO ED 40–150mm f/2.8 PRO lens. The lens has a 80–300mm equivalent focal length when mounted on Micro Four Thirds systems, and is built to withstand dust, water splashes and is also freezeproof.

The 40–150mm lens incorporates dual linear motors which makes it easier for the user to quickly focus while being quiet at the same time. It also has an internal zoom construction which enables the lens to maintain its length when zoomed. The lens will be available in November for USD 1499 (approx. Rs. 91,520).

Simultaneously, Olympus also announced the MC-14 1.4x Teleconverter. When used along with the 40-150mm lens, it boosts the equivalent telephoto reach to 420mm. This too will be available in November and will cost USD 349 (approx. Rs. 21,300).

Here is a look at the lens demonstrated by Toshiyuki Terada, Senior Manager, Product Planning, Olympus.
