Nikon Announces 20mm f/1.8 and a Video Speedlight
The Nikkor AF S 20mm f/1.8 G ED is the fastest ultrawide lens that the company has. It is an update of the sharp, but rather old Nikkor AF 20mm f/2.8 lens. The only other lens of this nature with such a fast aperture is the Sigma 20mm f/1.8 lens.
The FX-format lens comes with Nano Crystal Coat to reduce ghosting and flare. It has a minimum focusing distance of 0.2m. The lens will be priced at USD 799.95 (aprox. Rs. 48,000). The pricing seems really competitive, considering the quality of recent Nikkor optics and the much faster aperture. However, the lens is naturally a lot bigger than the classic 20mm f/2.8, and obviously, not as discreet.
Along with the lens they announced the SB-500 Speedlight. The SB-500 is the company’s first ever flashgun that also has an LED light for video. Both Canon and Sony (and some third-party manufacturers) have had flashguns with video lights for awhile now. The rather tiny flashgun can swivel vertically 90° and rotates 180°. It features commander and remote wireless flash options and is powered by two AA batteries. The pricing is USD 249 (approx. Rs. 15,000)
