Founded in 2011 by Caroline Kenyon and her team at The Food Awards Company, the contest celebrates the best in food photography and film today. There are 30 unique categories that cover a range of depictions of food in society. The entries are then judged by experts—photographers, magazine editors, creative directors, film directors, food retailers, and chefs. This year, the esteemed panel of jurors included David Loftus, the Chair of Judges, Nicola Galloway, Jussi Brofeldt, and Francis Hodgson, among others. The title winner receives a cash prize of 5000 GBP.
Second Winner: Victor Pugatschew, Australia
Curled Chardonnay: After pruning, we had some of the old vines curling around the wires. What compelled me to capture this image was the water droplets on the cobwebs. It somehow gave the entire scene an ethereal appearance, with the droplets resembling diamonds of various shapes and sizes.
Third Winner: Tono Balaguer, Spain
Cellar Worker’s Hand Ceaning the Wine Tank with Gloves and Sponge: I have spent many days among local cellars nearby my hometown in Mediterranean Spain. I was eager to learn every step in the process of winemaking. I was familiar with sourdough fermentation, but I wanted to understand every other process of this cellar. Eventually, I captured this moment—a surreal single hand cleaning the tank before filling it with new wine.Tags:
