“This is my way of not only remembering my parents and feeling their presence on an important moment of my life but also reinstating my belief in the idea of giving to those in need.”—Paromita Deb Areng

“This is my way of not only remembering my parents and feeling their presence on an important moment of my life but also reinstating my belief in the idea of giving to those in need.”—Paromita Deb Areng

Paromita Deb Areng, originally from Meghalaya, has been living in Mumbai for the past three years. For her, photography is a medium of creative expression. To celebrate 30 years of her life, she decided that sharing her joy is a great way to help those in need.
Inspired by a friend’s intiative, she has developed a project called ‘Deepdana’ (giving light) after her late parents, Pradeep and Chandan. “This will be a major milestone in my life,” she says. Paromita’s pictures are of abstract flora, still life and fine art.
Her focus is to raise Rs. 30,000, the proceeds of which will go to the Good Samaritan Mission—Home for the Dying and Destitute, Mumbai. Touched by the love she received from the children of this orphanage, she says she would not give up the chance to make a difference to their lives.
