Turn Your GoPro Hero8 Black into a Webcam
GoPro has released a free downloadable software that can render the Hero8 Black to double up as a webcam. However, the software is only available for MacOS users. Support for Windows users is still under development.
“These days, everyone has different video conferencing needs. Now that HERO8 Black works as a high-definition webcam, users can easily share wide-angle perspectives that better demonstrate their craft—from homeschooling and art teachers to chefs and aspiring chefs to fitness instructors—to their viewers. And, those simply looking for a high-performance webcam will appreciate HERO8 Black’s ability to capture themselves and their environment in a more flattering manner than traditional webcams allow,” reads a statement on their website.
Users will only require a USB-C chord to connect the Hero8 black to the laptop or desktop. The software is compatible with a wide range of video calling apps like Zoom, Google Meet, Skype and Facebook Messenger, among others.
Here’s a quick video by GoPro that explains how to set up the device as a webcam.
