The Enchanting Hand- Murad Osman Frames His Girlfriend
The Russian photographer Murad Osman was commisioned by Harper’s Bazaar, India to shoot his girlfriend in their bridal outfit dresses over a variety of exotic locations across India. His escapades were spread over five cities of India that were Varanasi, New Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Udaipur. This series of 11 photographs were an addition to his series ‘Follow Me To’ which has become a phenomenon on Instagram.
Harper’s Bazaar designed the bridal outfits for Osman’s girlfriend Natalia Zakharova for the duo’s expedition to India. The Jama Masjid in Delhi, being the largest is the largest mosque in India, was featured in one of his photographs as Osman wrote on his Instagram feed that the mosque becomes more peaceful and relaxed with every step you walk. From the Hawa Mahal- “The Palace of Winds” to the streets of Paharganj in Delhi to the exotic white marble Taj Mahal to the royal Amer Fort and the banks of Varanasi, Osman’s exploration of India is one of vibrancy and colour embedded in the country’s cultural flavour.
For this series, Osman has not just captured photographs in India but also other parts of the globe that include Rio de Janeiro, Jordan, Istanbul, New York, Hong Kong and Moscow to name a few. Through the medium of these photographs, Murad seems to be following Natalia’s hand as she tours the world.
The first photograph in this series was actually an accident which occured during a vacation the couple had taken in Barcelona. Osman, in an interview with the Daily Mail UK, says, “Natalia was a bit annoyed that I was always taking pictures of everything, so she grabbed my hand and tried to pull me forward.” Subsequently, the photographer’s journey began as he captured marvelous and enchanting locations all around the world.
