Sony Releases a Range of E-Mount Lenses

Coupled with the release of the Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R, Sony has announced a range of E-mount lenses. These lenses will also be compatible with their NEX-6 and NEX-7 cameras.

The FE range of E-mount lenses comprises of two mid-range zooms, two Sonnar T* primes and a G telephoto zoom lens.

Sonnar T* FE 35mm f/2.8 ZA

The Sonnar T* FE 35mm f/2.8 ZA lens is a wide angle prime lens with a maximum aperture of f/2.8. It will retail for Rs. 51,990 and will be available by the end of January 2014.

Sonnar T* FE 55mm f/1.8 ZA

The Sonnar T* FE 55mm f/1.8 ZA is a prime lens, aimed for low light photography in addition to portraiture.  The lens will retail for Rs. 63,990 and will be available by the mid January 2014.

Vario-Tessar T* FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS

The Vario-Tessar T* FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS lens is Sony’s first full frame E-mount zoom lens. The lens maintains the f/4 aperture across all focal lengths. Additionally, the lens features five aspherical elements with T* coating on the optical surface. The lens will retail for Rs. 76,990 and will be available by mid February 2014.

FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS

The FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS telephoto zoom lens is Sony’s first E-mount G lens, optimised for full-frame imaging with the the Alpha 7 and 7R. It also offers a maximum aperture of f/4 at all focal lengths. Additionally, it features the barrel-mounted focus hold button, focus range limiter and panning mode switch as well. The price of the lens has yet to be announced, but will be available by the end of April 2014.

All the lenses above are also moisture and dust resistant.

70-200mm f/2.8 G SSM II

The 70-200mm f/2.8 G SSM II lens is the newest addition to Sony’s A-mount family. The telephoto zoom lens offers a maximum aperture of f/2.8 at all focal lengths. The lens will retail for Rs. 1,99,990 and will be available by the end of December 2013.

LA-EA4 mount adapter

The LA-EA4 full-frame mount adapter is compatible with Sony’s A-mount lenses. The Translucent Mirror Technology inside the adaptor enables speedy, accurate phase detection autofocus. It will retail for Rs. 24, 490 and will be available by the end of January 2014.
