Sigma Announces Pricing and Availability of DP0 Quattro Camera

 

Sigma Corporation of America has announced the pricing and market availability of its Sigma DP0 Quattro. The large-sensor compact camera features a fixed 14mm f/4 lens, which is equivalent to a 21mm lens on a 35mm DSLR.

The camera’s lens features four F Low Dispersion (FLD) glass elements, which have performance equal to fluorite, two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements, and two aspheric lenses, including a wide double-sided aspheric lens.

The DP0 Quattro’s image sensor comes with a three-layered, panchromatic Foveon silicon chip with green-sensitive middle and red-sensitive bottom layers each having 4.9MP and record only colour/chrominance information. The top layer captures 19.6MP of blue channel chrominance and resolution/luminance information for the red and green channels.

Other features of the camera include an optical viewfinder VF-51, the True III image processor and, auto colour mode, autofocus and auto white balance.

Priced at USD 900 (approx. Rs. 64,050) the camera will be available for sale in the USA from late July. Price and availability in India are yet to be announced by the company.
