Samsung Launches Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ with 16MP Camera

 

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ in New York, last Thursday. Both the new offerings feature 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.

On the camera front, a 16MP rear camera in the Note 5 and S6 Edge+ is equipped with an f/1.9 aperture, optical image stabilisation, autofocus and an LED flash. Other similar camera features include geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama and auto HDR.

The camera in both devices is capable of dual-video recording. However, the S6 Edge+ can shoot 2160p video at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps; while the Note 5 is capable of shooting 2160p video at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps. In addition, the 5MP front-facing camera in S6 Edge+ is equipped with dual-video call function and auto HDR, and it can shoot 1440p video at 30fps.

Based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop, the Note 5 and S6 Edge+ feature 5.7-inch QHD (1440 x 2560p) Super-Amoled displays and are powered by a 64-bit octacore Exynos 7420 SoC and a 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The Note 5 and S6 Edge+ will be available in 32GB and 64GB built-in storage.

Measuring 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6mm, the Note 5 weighs 171 grams. The S6 Edge+ measures 154.4 x 75.8 x 6.9mmand weighs 153 grams.

The Galaxy Note 5 32GB and 64GB variants are priced at USD 739.99 (approx. Rs. 48,400) USD 839.99 (approx. Rs. 54,800) respectively. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ 32GB and 64GB variants are priced at USD 814.99 (approx. Rs. 53,300) USD 914.99 (approx. Rs. 59,800) respectively. Both products will be available in the USA from 21 August 2015. The company will announce pricing and availability in the select markets later.
