Reopening of Monuments: Photography Protocols

On Monday, Prahlad Singh Patel, the Minister of Culture and Tourism in India, announced the opening of monuments across the country in tandem with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) as well as protocols to combat COVID-19. However, only those monuments and museums that fall in non-containment zones will be permitted to open for visitors. In the days preceding the lockdown in March, ASI had called for a complete shutdown of 3000 monuments across the country.

Amongst the many guidelines listed out for the protection of staff and visitors, two come under the domain of photography—No group photography will be permitted within the premises, and only guides and photographers who have a valid license will be permitted to work.
