Quote of the Week by Joan Miró

“You can look at a picture for a week and never think of it again. You can also look at a picture for a second and think of it all your life.” —Joan Miró (1893-1983)

Joan Miró was a renowned Spanish artist, known for his sculptures, paintings and pottery. His work imbibes surrealism, and is described to be a recreation of the childlike. Miró exhibited a strong love of drawing at an early age. His artistic career may be characterised as one of persistent experimentation and a lifelong flirtation with non-objectivity. His signature biomorphic forms, and semi-abstracted objects are expressed in multiple media, from engravings to large installations. He was also named the Doctor Honoris Causa, by the University of Barcelona, for his influence on art.
