Quote of the Week by Harry Callahan

“The mystery isn’t in the technique, it’s in each of us.” —Harry Callahan (1912-1999)

Harry Callahan, who discovered photography at the age of 26, went on to become one of the innovators in photography. He is considered as one of the greatest street photographers for his experiments with nature, buildings and people. Callahan, who spent as much time as he could with a camera in his hand, mostly photographed his wife Eleanor, daughter Barbara and the city’s streets. In 1955, his work was included in The Family of Man, which was the popular international touring exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art. His work has been widely collected in many prestigious institutions like the Corcoran Gallery of Art, George Eastman House, Smithsonian American Art Museum and The High Museum of Art.
