Alec Soth was born in Minnesota. A renowned fine art photographer, he has received fellowships from the McKnight, Bush, and Jerome Foundations. Soth was the recipient of the 2003 Santa Fe Prize for Photography. His first book, Sleeping by Mississippi was published in 2004, and established him as a contemporary photographer. Since then, he has published various books like the IAGARA (2006), Broken Manual (2010) and Songbook (2015). He is a member of Magnum Photos and in 2008 he started his own publishing company, the Little Brown Mushroom.
