Panasonic announces Lumix S1R and Lumix S1 full-frame Mirrorless Cameras
Panasonic announced two new 35mm full-frame mirrorless cameras at photokina 2018 on September 25, the 47-megapixel Panasonic Lumix S1R and the 24-megapixel Panasonic Lumix S1. The new S-mount lens will be the same as L-mount which is developed by Leica for the ‘L-Mount Alliance’ by Leica, Sigma and Panasonic, announced earlier in the day.
The Panasonic Lumix S1R features a 47MP sensor, dual image stabilisers, 4K video (shot at 60fps), speedy autofocusing, and an electronic viewfinder. Panasonic has revealed that these are the first full-frame, mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras to offer both these 4K recording options. As of yet, they haven’t disclosed the resolution of the electronic viewfinder. Although the Panasonic Lumix S has a smaller megapixel count at 24MP, the rest of the specs are said to be similar.
Panasonic has also stated that these camera systems will be the first full-frame cameras to offer the Dual Image Stabilisation technology. Both the systems will be equipped with dual memory card slots for XQD and SD memory cards, and a rugged triaxial tilt LCD. Along with that, the three new lenses that will be available at the launch will be Fast Prime 50mm f/1.4, Standard Zoom 24-105mm standard zoom, and Telephoto Zoom 70-200mm.
