One of Nokia’s primary camera experts, Ari Partinen, is all set to join Apple instead. Partinen announced on Twitter yesterday (@Partinen) that it was his last day with the Finnish company and that he was all set to start a new chapter in Cupertino, California. As speculation rose amidst the Twitterati, Partinen confirmed in a subsequent tweet, that the Cupertino-based company he referred to, is Apple indeed.

While technology is always a result of great teams, innovation is almost always the brainchild of a few individuals, one of whom has been Partinen. The former Lumia Photography Lead at Nokia is probably one of the most important figures in cameraphone technology history, considering he was one of the key people who worked on not only the flagship Lumia 1020, but also the iconic and innovative Nokia 808 PureView, a cellphone that is still unmatched, in terms of image quality.

It may be interesting to note that Nokia and Apple’s philosophies, in terms of camera functionality, are dramatically opposite. Also, considering the fact that the iPhone 5S is arguably the best flagship phone today photographically (read our review here), Partinen’s shift is a sign of an exciting future.
