Mumbai Press Club Launches An Online Platform to Support Independent Journalists

The Mumbai Press Club recently launched PicsWire.com—an online network for freelance photographers to exhibit and market their work to newspapers, digital news services, ad agencies, corporate groups, and NGOs. PicsWire.com also serves as an easily accessible marketplace for those seeking professional photographers for short or long-term assignments.

To encourage more photojournalists to exhibit their work on PicsWire.com, the Mumbai Press Club has announced it will choose and reward one outstanding photograph every week from April to encourage and celebrate good news photography. For instance, they announced The Picture of the Week from 1 to 8 April, 2022 by Sandeep Anandrao Mahankal. The World Health Day image captures the spirit of sportsmanship and inclusiveness as more than 700 children living with disabilities received health screening as part of the Healthy Athletes initiative of the Special Olympics Program. The contest was judged by Mukesh Parpiani, curator at NCPA’s Piramal Gallery, and a veteran photojournalist and former Photo Editor of Mid Day.

Editors and senior journalists can access their photographs from www.picswire.com.
