Metabones Launches New Speed Booster XL 0.64x for Panasonic GH4
Metabones announced the launch of its new Speed Booster XL 0.64x, specially designed for Panasonic Lumix DMC GH4. The new Speed Booster XL 0.64x reduces the full-frame crop factor of the Panasonic GH4 from 2.0x to 1.28x, thus converting GH4’s 2.34x crop factor to 1.50x and transforming GH4 into a super 35mm cine format in 4K video mode.
According to the company, the new Speed Booster is also compatible with other Micro Four Thirds such as Canon EF and Nikon F/G.
Featuring a 6-element optical design, the Speed Booster comes with apertures up to f/0.80. In addition, the new offering from Metabones increase the speed of any lens attached by 11/3 stops.
Metabones notes that the Speed Booster XL 0.64x is similar to BMCC Speed Booster for Balckmagic cameras, but has been completely redesigned to achieve an increased working distance of 1mm for a better shutter mechanism in GH4 and other MFTs. Metabones’ Speed Booster offers a circle diameter of 21.63mm for high image quality in 4K video mode.
Priced at USD 649 (approx. Rs. 41,526) for Canon EF mount and USD 479 (approx. Rs. 30,648) for Nikon F/G mount, the Speed Booster XL 0.64 xs will be available of Metabones’ official website and through worldwide dealers from June 2015.Tags: Micro Four Thirds, canon ef, Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4, Metabones, Speed Booster XL 0.64x, Full-frame crop factor, 4K video mode, Nikon F/G, BMCC Speed Booster, Balckmagic cameras, Shutter mechanism, Filter stack thickness, Image circle diameter
