Metabones Launches New Speed Booster for MFT Cameras
Metabones has expanded its Ultra series of Speed Boosters with the launch of the Ultra 0.71x M43 for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. The M43 uses an advanced 5-element 4-group optical design incorporating tantalum-based optical glass.
With a magnification of 0.71x, the speed booster reduces the crop factor of mirrorless Micro Four Thirds mount cameras from 2.0x to 1.4x. Also, it is compatible with many DX and APS-C format lenses.
The new speed booster is capable of transforming large aperture photographic lens like the 55mm f/1.4 Zeiss Otus into a 39mm f/1.0 lens with even higher MTF, according to the company.
Other key features of the speed booster include crop factor of 1.42x for full Micro Four Thirds format and 1.66x in 4K video mode, a maximum output aperture of f/0.90 (with f/1.2 lens attached), a rectilinear distortion of less than 0.7% and length reduction of 5.5mm.
Measuring 25 x 76 x 72mm (for Canon EF mounts), the speed booster weighs 161 grams.
Currently, the M43 is available for Canon EF and Nikon F/G mounts and is priced at USD 649 (approx. Rs. 41,503) and USD 479 (approx. Rs. 30,632) respectively, through the company’s official website and dealers worldwide. The M43 for other camera mounts will be released soon.Tags: Metabones Ultra 0.71x M43, Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, APS-C format lenses, Large aperture photographic lens
