Huawei Brings in an 8MP Front-facing Camera

Huawei has launched a cellphone with an 8MP front-facing camera, and a 13MP primary camera. Amidst a whole bunch of specs, the only one of note is that the makers are coming up with a significantly high resolution standalone front facing camera. Now, while Gionee and Oppo already have 16MP primary cameras that can be rotated to become front-facing selfie or video calling cameras, this 8MP launch does not really cut it. Unless the makers bring something more interesting to the table, like a higher resolution front-facing camera, or a camera that can perform some insanely cool feat, the Huawei launch just adds more notches to the already swollen smartphone camera bracket.

While the phone’s Europe pricing of €449 (approx. Rs. 37,549) makes it much cheaper than phones with similar specifications from Samsung, Sony or HTC, it is not scheduled to release in the US, and as for the India release dates, one can only speculate.
