Canon Unveils 200–400mm Supertele Prototype

Canon 200–400m f/4L IS lens
A year after announcing that the company is developing a new super telephoto lens, Cannon unveiled the 200–400mm protoype. The lens has a built-in 1.4x extender as well.
While the lens does not have final details yet, it is expected to be a bit heavier than the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II. The minimum focusing distance is 2 meters, and the focus range on the lens can be set for 2m–6m, 5m to infinity, or the full range. The lens also comes with the power focus (PF) mode for smoother focus changes during video shooting. The lens features a housing for a flip-out element that extends the lens range 1.4x to 280–560mm, with the maximum aperture of f/5.6. The lens and its pricing will be announced sometime later this year.
