Canon Launches Project 1709
Canon has launched an online image-sharing service for all its users. With the tentative title of ‘Project 1709’, the cloud-based service makes it possible to access all the images that are scattered online, via a singular portal, but it does not allow users to store images online. While Canon is still in talks with a number of third-party websites, the project is integrated with Facebook. Additionally, Project 1709 lists each image’s EXIF data, including the camera’s model, exposure time, aperture and ISO. It also features extensive tagging that makes searching for particular images relatively easy and quick. The Project is scheduled to be launched in February 2013.
