Canon Announces the RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM Lens
Traditionally, the focal lengths between 90mm to 105mm are considered for macro photography, which offers life-size reproduction ratio. Recently, Canon launched a new lens that is a workaround solution suitable for both portraits and macro—the RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM lens. Its close focus design enables users to be as close as 35.05cm from the subject, along with a magnification ratio of 1:2. It comes with the STM stepping motor that is near silent and offers smooth autofocus performance and full-time manual focus override.
The lens also features optical image stabilisation, along with Hybrid IS, to suppress up to five stops of camera shake for sharper, blur-free shooting. A UD (Ultra low Dispersion) element is also used in the optical design to minimise aberrations and ensure clarity. Additionally, a customisable Control Ring lets you adjust exposure settings, including ISO, aperture, and exposure compensation, from the lens itself.Tags: Macro, portrait, new launch, Canon RF
