Canon has announced the fourth lens in its series M mount lenses, and this one will get you real close to the action. The EF-M 55–200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM provides an 88–320mm equivalent zoom range on the Canon EOS M, which we reviewed in February 2013 (Spoiler alert: We didn’t like the camera very much).

The new 55–200mm lens features 3.5 stop optical IS, and the STM motor claims to provide near-silent focusing. The Canon EOS M is a very capable video camera—it provides all the video perks of the 650D in a smaller (and cheaper) package—and the silent motor will be most advantageous while making videos. The lens also features a metal exterior and a built-in Ultra-low Dispersion element and a seven-blade circular aperture.

The lens is priced at £329.99 (approx. Rs. 33,900) and is scheduled for availability in July.

There has been no new M camera since the first. With the launch of this lens, could this mean we can expect a new, better M camera soon?
