As the price has fallen remarkably, I am planning to buy Nikon D90 within this week. I would like to have your suggestions on the lens.
1. Should I go for the Kit Lens 18-105?
2. Is Nikkor 16-85mm VR AF-S yields sharper photos than the said Kit lens?
3. As i am not interested in tele (18-200 mm VR) rather use the lens for 'anyday anywhere photography' what other lens option do i have that gives sharper images all through? |

Nikon D90 is an excellent choice, I am an user of D90. My advice is:
1. By all means go for the 18-105mm kit lens, this is a very good value purchase and the picture quality of quite decent for everyday photos.
2. I do not have much idea about 16-85mm.
3. You can consider Tamron 18-270mm for all purpose photography. I myselft prefer to use a 70-300mm with the kit lens though. |

Sourav is right about Nikon 18-105mm being a great lens for its value.
16-85mm VR is a superior lens and a preferable option. It is twice as expensive though. And short by 20mm at the long end.
70-300 VR is again a great lens but you'll need to find a companion for it to cover the wider end. The old 18-70mm is a great kit lens that comes to my mind. It doesn't have VR but is faster at the long end (f/4.5) than all of the said lenses.
18-200 VR evokes mixed feelings among the Nikon users. Its performance at the longer end is a suspect and the cheap 55-200mm VR at approximately Rs.10,500 is equally good for 1/3rd the price (and lesser). You can, of course, cover the wide end by, well, the 18-55mm.
Spoiled for choices, aren't you?
The next step to quality is not cheap. One great lens that I recommend to all Nikon users is the adorable 50mm f/1.8, for a mere rupees 6,500/-, which is up there right with the best Nikon lenses in sharpness and saturation. |

| I completely agree with you on 50mm f/1.8, which is truly a great lens for bucks. |

Well, I tend to think 35mm f/1.8 is still better for the DX folks, with crop factor eating into the field of view and considering that sometimes you don't want to change lense and dont have choice to go back a few steps and fit the subject in view.
That said, it really is a personal choice. The 35mm is almost twice as costly as the 50mm as well. |

| I am not a big follower of third party lenses, but you can try searching reviews on the online shopping sites. |
