DEAR B, theme is good...pl keep in mind, while shooting backlighted subjects, either use the camera flash on ''force'' setting or increase the exposure by one to two stopS....the background will go white but ur picture will be saved.

either u can do some post processing on the image.

Thank you Guruji.. I am still learning how to use my prosumer the best. Does camera flash have an effect on the subject even in the bright sunlight? I mean have a flash on while taking this pic would have made much diff.? I took this pic at around 2 o'clock and I was facing the sun.

Your comments are much appreciated..

from the distance, it looks that u are not far away from the man...therefore ur flash cud have well lighted his face reducing the shadow, which is hiding the details of skin on his face.....the built-in flash is very much of use under backlighted subjects....having catchlight in the eyes -- a very much important factor in portrait photography.

we have three options in such cases...-to use builtin flash, or separate flash on hotshoe, if attached,
--increasing exposure
--using reflectors, whichever is convenient to the photographer.

Thank you very much Guruji..
I understood your point.
One thing... I would like to share here.
Most of my pics are not planned. Smile Above pic was just a chance shoot and that too from a distance. I had zoomed on the subject and later made a tight crop in PS.

I am glad that I joined this forum which helps me in learning something more than just Point & Shoot.

Thanks again for your kind support.
