Friends,
I've got a weird problem with RAW. Both me & my assisting photographer were shooting in RAW, she was using D60 whereas I was with my good old D40.
I can easily open my images in my PS installation for processing, but whenever I'm trying to open her images on my PS, it's giving me an error - "The format of the file is not supported by Adobe Photoshop". I'm using CS2 with 'Adobe Camera Raw' to work on RAW files.
Any clue? Any help on this is highly appreciated as I'm going to shoot with her for another event soon.
Thanks!
Ani. |

Ya it might be the possibility that this is because of missing plugins...
Get a D60 plugin from net and things will go smooth... |

Thanks Crazy & Ashvary...yeah the problem is the camera makers & software makers are packed and we got to pay for their holy venture! Anyway, I've downloaded CS4 this morning...will install it tonight and will let you know the status.

I guess Piracy kicks hard to all the holy ventures of theses guys..
I think they itself are promoting the piracy by their wrong policies...
[they = camera and softy manufacturers..] |

At present most of the CS4 cracks are wired....
Are U getting Insert Disk 01 type of message...???
If raw dont work, get CS3.. it will work smoothly without any problem... |

| The problem is solved, thanks Ashvary! I'm back to CS2 with Camera RAW 3.7 and using Lightroom 2 for RAW from D60. Lightroom 2 is also a brilliant application to work with! |

Ani..
I stick to lightroom .. for immediate RAW processing/management.
(version 2.5) takes most of the -even newer- cameras - camera profiles are already with the installation. there is a version 3 beta circulating for free until Adobe decides to stop it.
Lightroom is not the same as ps/cs .. it is like bridge in cs.
and how often do you do the heavy picture alterations that cs provides for .. for me it has been nil - i once used it for stitching.. iv'e now uninstalled it.
when a new camera comes in the market - its profile takes a few weeks to show up .. but most of nikon/canon come out fast enough- i had to wait for profiles for the E-p1 .. but there are ways to create your own profiles.
support for bodies released anew will always face this delay.
Another foolproof solution is to convert all your raw files (till not supported, perhaps) to DNG.
Another very(very) good raw processor is "LightZone".
but i still find LR the most handy (also because it works in both my mac and windows PC).
Regards. |
