What Goes into Making a Good Image?

Is it important for an image to be technically right, or to have compelling, strong content?

Answer by: David de Souza, Photographer and Educator

Art and science are beautifully balanced in photography. There is a fair amount of skill with technique, technology and the metaphysical, the inspirational and artistic. Both components, like the left and right brain, needed to be Purshottam, or the perfect man. The simplest of photos can be the most compelling, but this is true of music, writing, dance, or even science. However, a good photographer will strike a balance between content and the technical aspects in the image.
