USB Charging

A lot of new cameras seem to allow USB charging, instead of the conventional charger that is usually packed in the box. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the same?

The advantage is obvious. If you lose your charger, the ubiquitousness of the USB port means that you can find an inexpensive replacement easily. Also, if there is no plug point around, you can use a laptop or even a car to charge the camera.

However, USB, that is, in-camera charging is often a lot slower. Also, when you are charging, the camera is stuck. So you cannot charge one battery while you use your camera with a spare, something that is possible with cameras that have dedicated chargers.
