Did You Know: USA Celebrates a National Photography Month
This story was originally published in October 2011.
Former American President Ronald Reagan initiated an American Photography Celebration in May 1984. originally, the celebration would start on 7 May and would end on 14 May. But, by 1987, the US Congress recognised it as a festival and instead of having a week-long event, the photographic industry began holding celebrations that lasted 30 days. The idea was to promote and honour the joy that photography brought to people’s lives. Since then, the month of May has been the national Photography Month of america, when many photo-related competitions and events are organised.Tags: June 2011, did you know, national photography month, USA
