The #XperiaZ3 Project: Making of a Great Camera Phone
1. Take It for a Swim
Being dustproof and waterproof ( IP68 certified) for up to 1.5m and 30mins lets you explore endlessly photographic possibilities. Shoot in the rain or while taking a swim without having to worry about the phone.
2. Dedicated Camera Button
The inclusion of a dedicated camera button is a convenience that every photographer would love especially, when shooting from different, possible awkward angles. You no longer need to try and touch the screen clumsily. Additionally, these Xperias let you program the volume button to act as either a zoom function or trigger the shutter too. Long pressing any of these options will trigger the Burst mode.
3. Lowlight Madness
A large 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor, a fast f/2.2 lens, LED flash and the possibility of going up to ISO 12800 make the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact lets you shoot in lighting conditions that were never possible before with cellphones. Cyber-shot and Hnadycam modes let you capture sharp images and stabilised video even when the light levels drop.
4. Record 4k Video
Four times the quality of Full HD video, get sharper, brighter videos with better detail by shooting in 4k (3840 x 2160) with the Z3 and Z3 Compact.
5. Shoot First, Crop Later!
A 20.7MP sensor means that you have the ability to crop a lot later on and still get a decently-sized final image.
6. What’s in a G Lens?
The 25mm-equivalent f/2.2 G lens on the phones lets you capture sharp images.
7. Run the Latest Android
Being Sony’s flagship phones, the Z3 and Z3 Compact run the latest version of Android, Kitkat 4.4. Not only do you get all of the latest features but you can expect timely updates as well. Can’t wait of Android L and DNG images? The Z3 and Z3 Compact will be among the first to get it.
8. Expandable Memory
While the phones themselves come with either 16GB or 32GB of in-built memory, there is also a microSD card slot incase you need more storage space.
9. Exceptional Battery Life
At 3100mAH (2600mAH for the Z3 Compact), the Z3’s lithium ion battery is good enough for a full day of walking around and shooting. With a fast battery charging design, 60% of the battery can be charged in less than 30mins.
10. Made for Editing
A large bright screen, lots of detail captured by the sensor and top-of-the-line hardware specs make the Xperia Z3 a great phone to edit your images on. The Xperia Z3 boasts of a large 5.2-inch Full HD LCD display (424 ppi) while the Z3 Compact has a 4.6-inch HD LCD display (320ppi).
