Secondhand Gear

As a beginner, with an enthusiast-level of interest, should I go for secondhand gear to conserve money?

Buying a used body is not a bad idea. However, do check the shutter, sensor, viewfinder and LCD. If you are planning to buy a used lens, then you need to be cautious. There should not be any scratch marks or fungus on it. Make sure to thoroughly check the condition of the body and the alignment of the lens.

In fact, buy from a reliable source on the condition that after testing, if the lens is not in an appropriate condition, you should be able to return it.
