Where Stories Come Alive SILK Inspire 2017
SILK Inspire is back with its second edition this month, with an exciting lineup of some of the best wedding photographers in the industry.
SILK PHOTOS, the India-based boutique photo agency that specialises in wedding photography, will be hosting an exciting lineup of talks and masterclasses. Jen Huang, Arjun Kartha, Sergey Ivanov, Andrea Corsi, Juyá Gentil, Brian Callaway, Zack Arias and Jeff Newsom will each be sharing their distinct style and valuable insights towards wedding photography. There will also be a one-on-one portfolio review by Sephi Bergerson, the Founder and Director of SILK PHOTOS.
The festival, a paid event, will take place from 6-10 October, in Goa. For details on how to be a part of the festival, visit
Although he doesn’t consider himself to be a wedding photographer, Arjun Kartha is drawn to the genre, owing to his love for making rich and vibrant portraits. He has an easily discernable style, which has led him to be featured in publications across the globe. His imagery is influenced by a need for storytelling.
With a distinctive fine art sensibility, Jen Huang, has made it on the covers of numerous international bridal publications. Her entire style is focused around the use of medium format film to create light-filled portraits of her subjects. She is easily one of the most sought after wedding photographers in the world.
Juyá Gentil was influenced and encouraged by his parents, who are also wedding photographers. He is drawn towards the lighter moments at weddings, and prefers to remain inconspicuous while on assignment. He enjoys being caught up in the revelry, instead of pre-planning his photographs.
An editorial, portrait and music photographer, Zack Arias is passionate about sharing his knowledge and experiences. His technical proficiency, especially with lighting equipment has made him a force to reckon with. His OneLight workshops are extremely popular amongst those interested in learning about external lighting.
Sephi Bergerson is the man at the helm of SILK Inspire. He was drawn in to the world of wedding photography after he began to work on his book Behind The Indian Veil—A Journey Through Weddings in India, in 2007. Over the years, he has found his balance between his many non-commercial humanitarian projects, as well as his commercial wedding photography.
Known best for turning seemingly straightforward wedding pictures into fantastical visions, Sergey Ivanov is recognised as one of the most creative wedding photographers in the industry. Having worked in the field for a decade, he has indeed carved a niche for himself.
Jeff Newsom is known for his innovative use of lighting. He is not afraid to experiment with his visuals, which almost always result in breathtaking photographs. Based out of California, and extremely fond of his children, he likes to ensure that his business is simple so that his art can be the focus.
Brian Callaway uses his expert knowledge of lighting to make exciting images. In 2015, his name was in the list of the popular ‘Top Ten Fearless Photographers of the Year’. His work has been widely published in various magazines like National Geographic, People, Us Weekly, Huffington Post, Rangefinder, and PDN, amongst others.
Andrea Corsi seeks to maintain the authenticity of the atmosphere surrounding him. In the last five years, Corsi has had 200 winning images in both national and international contests. He is also the recipient of awards from the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers, The Wedding Photojournalist Association, and Fearless.
