The Photo Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has unveiled the 7th National Photography Awards, a competition encouraging amateur and professional photographers to showcase India through their lens. It aims to promote and present the various facets of the country such as arts, culture, development, heritage, history, life, people, society, and traditions.
The awards will be given out to three categories. The Lifetime Achievement Award winner—an artist with outstanding contributions to photography and the development of society—will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3 lakhs. The Professional and Amateur category winners, for whom the themes are Women-led Development and Fairs & Festivals of India, will be honoured with cash prizes worth Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 75,000 respectively. Five Special Mention Awards in both categories are also up for grabs.
