Book Launch—Life is Elsewhere by Sohrab Hura

Life is Elsewhere is the first of the two books from the work titled Sweet Life by Sohrab Hura. Sohrab began making the photographs in the book, from 2006-2012 while he was in his mid to late twenties. The photographs, were a response to his coming to terms with his mother’s prolonged illness. She had been diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was nineteen. While in the initial years Sohrab focused on just the photographs, over time the work shifted shape to one of a journal which include letters and notes written over the years along with the photographs to create a completely new narrative leading up to the second and final part of Sweet Life.

Life is Elsewhere is the first book by Sohrab Hura and will be launched in February at Sensorium 2014, an arts and literary festival being held in Sunaparanta, Goa Centre for Arts. The work is also being exhibited at the festival.
