Africans in India: A Rediscovery

For the first time in India, the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts is hosting an exhibition titled Africans in India: A Rediscovery. The exhibit will be retracing the life and achievements of well known Afro-Indians and will include photographic reproductions of paintings from private collections and museums and contemporary photographs too. All this is courtesy the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York. Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism, will be inaugurating the event on 8 October, and this will be followed by a performance by the black sufis of Gujarat–Siddi Goma Troupe.
