Title: Mr White Wings “On a bright sunny day, I was walking around a zoo looking to photograph the wild animals. But this particular butterfly caught my interest. It was blissfully collecting nectar from the small purple flowers. It seemed to be so lost in the activity, that it did not flap its wings at all!” Camera: Nikon D60 Lens: Nikkor 18–55mm Aperture: f/11 Shutterspeed: 1/100sec ISO: 100 Photograph/ Prashant Jagannathan

Title: Darter with Feed “This image was taken at the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Rajasthan in 2006. In the last two years, Bharatpur has received very scanty rain. The decreasing water levels, as a result, have reduced darter sightings tremendously; which is why there are fewer photographic opportunities too.” Camera: Canon EOS 20D Lens: Canon EF 75–300mm Ultra Sonic Aperture: f/8 Shutterspeed: 1/800sec ISO: 200 Photograph/ Dipesh C Shah, Mumbai

Title: Gold Rush “This shot was taken while I was on an aircraft that was flying over Maharashtra. I tried to use an unusual angle to capture the sun rays, falling from behind a cluster of clouds onto a meandering river. The photograph has not been cropped or edited, except for minor colour adjustments.” Camera: Canon PowerShot S3 IS Aperture: f/4 Shutterspeed: 1/1000sec Photograph/ Bhaskar Dutta, Bengaluru

Title: War Reporting “My DSLR’s battery had died. So my mobile phone came to the rescue. The mediocre phone shifted my interest from photographing things around me. Then, I noticed my friend holding a tripod in his hands—his shadow looking like he was holding a gun. I took some shots, feeling like a reporter photographing a war event.” Camera: Samsung Beat i450 (2MP mobile phone camera) Exposure details not available Photograph/ Kushal Goyal, Kathmandu

Title: The Right Foot “I shot this inside a departmental store at the denims section. I saw this jeans-clad, dummy pair of legs kept in a corner. The funny sight inspired me to click this picture with my cell phone camera!” Camera: Nokia 6681 (1.3MP mobile phone camera) Aperture: f/3.2 Shutterspeed: 1/50sec Photograph/ Shakhi Nag (Dutta), Bengaluru
