Canon PhotoMarathon 2014: The Race Against Time

As Canon PhotoMarathon enters its fifth year, the competition sets out once again to test photographers’ mettle. Here’s a look at the best images.

Bengaluru played host to one of India’s most unique and competitive photography competitions, the Canon PhotoMarathon 2014 on 27 September. Participants were challenged to shoot images on two themes, Tranquility and Chaos in just three hours each. The themes were assigned only moments before the competition began.

“We are happy to see the ever-increasing number of youngsters taking up DSLR cameras and unleashing their creative selves. Canon India has been focused on promoting the culture of photography and the PhotoMarathon is testament of the same.” — Dr Alok Bharadwaj, Executive Vice President, Canon India

The participants’ images were judged for technique, creativity and narrative abilities by a panel of esteemed judges. The judging panel included advertising and fashion photographer Waseem Khan, Director of NICC Bengaluru and renowned macro photographer and wedding and lifestyle photographer Neeta Shankar.

The day-long event saw photographers from across the country shooting for the chance to win some fantastic prizes including a trip to Canon Photo Clinic in Japan. The photographers behind the winning images also recieved the Canon EOS 700D, the EOS 100D and two PowerShot G16, amongst other prizes.

The event also included seminars by Sudhir Shivaram, a noted wildlife photographer and Jeevan Pathare, HOD Photography, NICC Bengaluru, as well as an equipment cleaning camp organised for participants.
